Obama Tells Republicans to “Sit in Back”

President Obama has hit the campaign trail with gusto on behalf of Democratic campaigns nationwide, recently spending some hours in Rhode Island.

In a speech delivered in Providence, Rhode Island on Monday (October 25), Obama declared that the Republicans were to blame for the failure of the economy (only partial disagreement there) and that the Democrats have pulled it out of the proverbial ditch (okay, big disagreement there – unless he meant they have pulled it out of the ditch so they can throw it off a cliff).

As a result, he says the Republicans must continue to pay for their actions.  He said, “We don’t mind the Republicans joining us.  They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”  Hmmm….sounds racist to me.  Where’s Al Sharpton?

President Obama correctly observed that Republicans drove the economy into the ditch, but he failed to observe that they did so using the same economic principles that he is currently enforcing – government intrusion and regulation.

He also failed to mention that those policies were not simply enacted by “the previous administration.”  They’ve been in place for quite a while and the previous administration was simply too foolish to remove them.

Honestly, I’m fine with the Republicans sitting in the back, but only if the Democrats and every other Constitution-trampling, big government, spendaholic agrees to join them.

  1. I really like your analysis. The way history repeats itself is remarkable. Pres. Hoover (Republican) set up the excessive government controls that prevented an economic recovery during his tenure, to be followed by Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt(Democrat), who greatly expanded the suppression of the free market with even more and stronger government interference in the economy. And to make matters even worse, Pres. Obama has stated the oft repeated fallacy that WWII brought the U.S. out of The Great Depression. In fact , economic recovery did not occur until the Federal government cut taxes by 2/3’s, two years after the war ended. It should be a cause of concern that IRAN is constantly being portrayed as a great menace. It’s like deja vu all over again.
